For Christmas he received a vintage camera. But inside, the surprise: a roll of film that had never been developed. So Thomas App, a French photographer with a passion for analogue, rolled up his sleeves and took care of it, revealing shots of a family, probably on holiday.

In the photos, which seem to date back to the 1970s, there are also three small children, together with what are probably their parents and grandparents: smiling, with summer clothes and a lake behind them. "I think these people would be happy to have their photos back," explained Thomas, who decided to use social media to launch an appeal.

'I would like to find them again,' she wrote on Instagram, 'and I need help: the camera, a Kodak B11, came from a market in Savoy, but the photos could have been taken in Europe. By sharing this post maybe someone will recognise their parents, grandparents or aunts and uncles'.

And social media mobilised: on Instagram thousands of people liked and shared the photographer's post. Some even claim to have recognised a parasol that appears in the background of one of the shots. For now, however, there is still no trace of the mystery family.
